WHAT INFLUENCE SUICIDE/SUICIDE ATTEMPT AMONG TEENAGERS IN NIGERIA?


Suicide is an act of causing injury to oneself with the intent to die, suicide mostly occurs among teenagers, adults and seniors. This act can be called an abnormal thought but overcoming the thought is a serious challenge. Suicide Attempt closely related is when a person harms himself or herself with the intent to end their life, but they do not die as a result of the act done.
Suicide/Suicide Attempt cannot be attributed to any gender as there has been news on all gender regarding these. Suicide is not just about killing oneself but also include the cause of harm to people left behind. In Nigeria today, teenagers committing suicide need to be addressed as its effects affect society at large.
In recent times the news of teenagers committing/attempting suicide has been on media for years back till now, the issue of teenagers committing and attempting suicide cannot be overlooked in our society as its put deepen wound on the victim’s parent, relatives and friends. Before talking about the effects on society, we need to bring the factors that influence suicide/suicide attempts among teenagers.
Suicide among teenager influencers includes;
1. loss of a lover
2. academic expectations
3. broken family
4. authoritarian parents
5. abuse
